Which is your favorite city in the world?

Choosing between Boston and Paris is a struggle, but Paris wins out. Paris is a labyrinth of memories. Not only those of millions of people over a thousand or more years, but also my own. The streets of Paris are a labyrinth that I've walked through and memorized without realizing it. The memories pour out of the buildings, the statues, the monuments, and the imagination. I remember Paris for many reasons, but perhaps the best is that it touched my soul.

Which is your favorite city in the world? (140 words or less, or thereabouts is good enough.)

Hey Richard! I'm a new follower. (Come on over sometime.)

San Francisco, hands down. Best place I ever lived and I so want to go back. Soon, very soon.

Paris is amazing, but Rouen, in Normandy, France, tops it for me. Open air markets, snoozing dogs in the shop's doorways and soaring gothic cathedrals with doors wide open on every corner. Beautiful.

Paris for its Impressionist art, walks along the Seine, and history at every corner.

Edinburgh for the simple reason that I've never been happier or felt more alive than when I was in that city.

I've never been to San Francisco or Edinburgh or Rouen except in books. I've been to San Diego, Glascow, and Le Harve.

I don't know. I haven't been many places . . . but just off the top of my head, I would say Kyoto, even though I've never been there. It sounds like a nice place. :)

I love Paris. So poetic!

Fave city for me? Very tough to pick just one. I'd have to say Hong Kong for it's sheer beauty. It's a place everyone should see once.

I haven't been outside the US (yet) but as my daughter will be in France next year, so we are going in June 2012. I can't wait to see Paris, and I will be sure to look for Rouen, as I think that will be close to Caen, where my daughter will be attending school (both in Normandy). Fav city in US . . . probably old town Bellingham, WA!

Washington D.C. is my favorite, probably because I've lived close enough in my most recent past to experience it. I also loved San Diego when I lived there the summer of 1960, when I was 20. I saw it again in the late 90s when my son and his wife lived there. I still felt its charm. I have always wanted to see Paris. Don't think I ever will. Sigh. I'll just have to visit it through photographs and stories.

I'm trying to do some catchup blogging. I've been buried in my "blog tour" through interviews the past two weeks. That's over as of yesterday. But book promotion isn't. Nor is keeping in touch with my blogging friends such as you! How is your book coming? I'm trying to get organized so I can write a second memoir. I'm trying to learn how to read faster (I relate to your being a "slow reader") so I can get the books read that I've bought for my kindle, not to mention the printed books in my bookcases!

Have a great week!!

Oh my, I wish I had a list, but honestly, I hate cities. My fav is Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It's quiet. Has a rich history that only extends the 100+ year life of the province, but best of all, when I visit there, I find enough magic to inspire me.

I've never been to Bellingham, WA, but I've been to Washington, DC. I've never been to Moose Jaw, but I found it on the map. Any place with a name like Moose Jaw has to be magical.

London. It has everything except for decent weather.

No way I could choose. I love cities because of the memrories and it would be like choosing one memory over another.

Paris is very beautiful...and romantic. But there's something about London that chimes with me. I think it's the history... and walking by the Thames in the moonlight ~ Lovely!

Since I haven't lived in very many cities in the world or even visited very many, I would have to say that my favorite so far is Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Although it feels very "touristy" it also has substance. There is much to see and do and the weather is fantastic!

I've never been to Hawaii, but my (probably) next novel takes place a lot in Hawaii.

I've been to London, but I wish I had been there more often, or stayed longer. I've also been to Plymouth, Dartmouth, and Cowes. My friends and I drove all around the moors outside London. It was cool.
