Word Count, Three Months Later

This is a continuation of posts concerning the progress on my WIP.

Week Oct 19-22  7,950 words
Week Oct 24-29  5,417 words
Week Oct 31        4,213 words Draft Completed.

I finished the complete draft on Oct. 31. Total word count was a little over 116,000 words. I ended up eliminating two or three chapters that I decided did not move the story forward in the main plot line. So, I finished earlier than expected.

Tanya Reimer agreed to read the ms, and the feedback she's giving me is phenomenal. She could easily be a professional editor if that was what she wanted to be. I honestly believe her advice will take the book to a new level. So I will not be publishing the book at this time, but will be working on it a while longer--possibly two or three more months.

Am I disappointed, because I wanted to self-publish the book this year? Absolutely not. I'm tickled pink to have the opportunity to make the book much better. Tanya's advice is so exhaustive as to leave no leaf unturned. I'm truly amazed.

Thank you, Tanya.

How awesome, Richard, for Tanya's feedback. You should definitely take those extra months to get the book polished. Congratulations on completing the draft. That in itself is a major accomplishment.

Kudos for finishing the book, Richard. And I think you are wise to go with a rewrite. Once it's published, you don't want to be looking back and wishing you had polished it up some more. How great that you could get such professional level feedback from Tanya. I'll look forward to reading your book when it does come out.

Congrats! It's so amazing when you finish a book. Can't wait to read it. I think you're wise to let the beta reader look at it first.

Even if you didn't quite make your intended goals you've improved upon them. You're still making great progress. And I will concur about Tanya's editing skills.

All the best, and no thanks necessay, you were very helpful with my MS!

Well done for finishing the novel Richard, and go you for taking Tanya's advice and editing before self-publishing! The book will be so much stronger for it, and you'll be happier too, I think :)

Congratulations on finishing your book, Richard. It's a whoo-hoo day when that happens. Tanya's a great critique partner--endless support and good ideas. Editing is always tough, but worthwhile.
Can't wait to read it.

You are a lucky man to have Tanya's feedback. It is always better to refine your book to its possible state than to rush it into print. Good luck with your eventual sales! Thanks for your kind words on my post today, Roland

It's a great thing to have a really good editor in your corner. There's no rush. Only put it out when it's really ready.

Yay! I love awesome feedback! There's nothing quite like the feeling that you are making your book so much better. It's why I love revising so dang much.
