I had a dream about William Butler Yeats

I had a dream last night. I was in William Butler Yeats' house in Ireland. It was amazing. His living room was sunken and lined with books and it had the quality of an amphitheater. He sat there reading his poetry and his voice boomed through the amphitheater, his words resonnating. I thought, this is how a poet should live.

Yeats is one of my favorites. I read a lot of his poetry when I was in college. More and more I want to go back to the "masters" of poetry and literature to feed my soul.

I would just like to go to Ireland - anyplace in Ireland, and also to have a sunken living room lined with books!

Hi Richard - good to see you over at my blog .. and thanks so much for the comment ..

I'm terrible in that I know exceedingly little about Yeats - but having a sunken sitting room where the words would resonate around .. sounds just glorious - big log fire in winter, with wonderful all round windows for the summer sun .. bliss!

Cheers Hilary

What a great dream! I'd love to have that dream. (He's one of my favorite poets, too, Ann.) You are so right about how a poet should live: a room lined with books as large as an amphitheater. How ANY writer should live, really. :-)

Hmmm...I'm wondering if there's another story in there somewhere.

Wow, that's quite the dream! Why can't I have dreams like that?

Isn't it wonderful when you have those kinds of dreams AND remember them? Jealous!
