Humpty Dumpty

I clearly have the memory, around age 4, of lying in bed in the dark. I believe my parents and sister also slept in their own beds in the same room, as it was a very small house. As I looked toward the window, there was Humpty Dumty sitting on the window seal, filling up the window.

Oh, what a creepy image. I think I would have screamed and thrown something at Humpty...You know, that could be the start to a great story...

How scary!

Did you see him fall? Try to pick up the pieces and put him together again?

It's amazing what we can remember from so far back.

That struck me as a fun memory> Was he smiling at you and were you happy, or were you afraid of him?

I was a little afraid.

Richard, I don't have any memory of myself as a 4 year old. Were you scared of what you saw, is that the reason you remember it so well?

Rachna, I was a little bit afraid, but not scared enough to wake my parents.

What a vivid imagination. Could it have been a nightmare? I still remember some of mine.

Yes, classic Humpty Dumpty. Great subject for all of us, as it is so eerie to think that you could fall off a wall and not be put back together again.

Richard, I have those kind of weird memories from my early childhood too. I have an early memory of waking up seeing mice surrounding a chair as if they were having a meeting. I'm sure it wasn't true, but the memory is very vivid, nonetheless. :)

That's... actually kind of cool.

Sounds like the kind of nightmares I had as a kid. =D

You need to do more drugs and drink more box of wine. You should check out my band Terminally Ill on the blog I have about them.

I checked out your band and it's loud. You definitely have a theme and point of view. Thanks for stopping by. I'll keep an eye on your blog. It's lively, especially for being termanally ill.

I remember being 4...mostly always having incredibly sore eyes because of my allergies....so glad those went away, hope your humpty did too...

I used to think Humpty Dumpty was a good guy, then I saw his portrayal in Dreamworks Puss in Boots and changed my mind.

Hi Richard - perhaps having your parents and sister in the same room made your take on Humpty easier ..

I hadn't realised Humpty Dumpty is meant to be not such a good guy - better read those stories again.

Now I shall think of Humpty on my window sill at night outlined by the silvery moon .... Cheers Hilary

I hope he wore a smile and had a pleasant face. That would startle me!

Wow, what an image! I liked when Humpty Dumpty had a smile on his face and he DIDN'T FALL OFF THE WALL.

I can remember as a child sleeping on the screened in porch of a house we rented and thinking the leaves silhouetted on a tree branch were profiles of faces. I was just about that age, too. And it really spooked me!
