Cover Reveal for my short story collection

I've decided on the cover for my upcoming collection of short stories. The title of the book is The Gunman in Black, which comes from the title of the lead story. I would like to hear your feedback on the cover and suggestions you might have for improvements. I hope to publish the book in a week or two.

So, what do you think? Please let me know.

This is so exciting! I like the cover you've chosen and the title. I'm wondering however if it would be better to have the '5 stories of crime' shifted down a little so your name is across the bottom edge. I guess that really wouldn't change things all that much. I've never done a book cover so I have no experience to share with you on this one. But I'm looking forward to seeing your book come out! (:

Thank you, Elise. I think it's a balance issue too. Now that I look at it, "5 stories of crime" should be lowered a bit, to give better balance with the title of the book.

Hi, Richard,
I agree with Elise; an intriguing cover, but I also think it would be more balanced with the wording lower down. Congratulations and good luck with it.

Thanks, Valentina. I'm almost certain I'll make that change.

Great cover. It reminds me of the old iPod commercials and we know how that marketing bonanza turned out.

Thanks, Mike. Hope it's as successful as the iPod is/was.

Book covers are more difficult to create than most people realize.
I think you did a good job. It's simple, yet it makes a statement.

The sillhuette itself is okay. But I recommend 1) getting into photoshop and bringing up the intensity of the background...or even replacing the background with a more dramatic, night scene; 2) Need...er...some work on the typography. Looks a little like the font for a 13yo's essay. I don't say that to be rude. I hope you take it in the way I mean...to give you honest feedback.

I believe you need to distribute the size and placement of the fonts better, as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, Mac. I'm not angry at all; in fact, I'm impressed. I guess I can play with the fonts, because that is a good suggestion. The background suggestion is good, too, but I have no facility in photoshop, or any other photo-imaging programs. But maybe I can do something to intensify the background. Thanks again.
