Questions for the Meet and Greet
Hello to you who are part of this venture. Let's hope we all succeed in getting an agent.
-Where do you write?
Most anywhere. I often go to the public library or the college library near my home. Yes, I often write in longhand. But, I also work at my computer at home. I took my laptop to the library one time and decided it was too much to carry around. I've written in doctor's waiting rooms, fast-food restaurants, sitting in my car. You name it, I've probably done it. Oh yes, writing while lounging by my swimming pool is best.
-Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to
your left. What is the first thing you see?
Bookcase.
-Favorite time to write?
Morning.
-Drink of choice while writing?
Coffee.
-When writing , do you listen to music or do you need
complete silence?
I prefer silence, but when I do feel like listening to music, it's classical music I like.
-What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and
where did you find it?
That's a very long and complicated story. Long story short, it grew out of another book I wrote.
-What's your most valuable writing tip?
Don't wait for inspiration to hit to write. Write everyday, if you can, and write as much as you can.

ReplyDeleteI can't imagine writing in longhand anymore. The closest I get is scribbling ideas on scrap paper when they hit. Longhand is becoming a lost art. ):
ReplyDeleteI'm like you, I can pretty much write anywhere. I always take my notebook with me in the car or wherever. If I have a few minutes, I can usually jot something down that I'll use later when I get back to my laptop.

ReplyDeleteBiography and art. I'm with you on this. And grandchildren. And writing anywhere in longhand. Did this a LOT in my younger days; not so much now, but then I'm pretty much housebound and with a computer. So much faster to write this way!

ReplyDeleteI'm always in awe of anyone who has patience to write longhand. My thoughts run quicker than my pen does. Sometimes even faster than I can type. :) It's nice to meet you! Looking forward to seeing you around GUTGAA!

ReplyDeleteI have a two and a half-year old grandson myself. He's at my house a lot, but I can't imagine all the work of raising him after raising all my own kids. You have my total respect!! I think it's an amazing thing you're doing.
I'm 43. It seem like most of the writers I run into are in there twenties, which always makes me feel super late to this game. It's nice to see someone a little older still pursuing the dream.
Anyway, I'm just hopping around to the GUTGAA blogs to say hi to everyone.I got so inspired by all the great blogs on here that I finally decided to start one. i'd love it if you'd stop by!! It's brand spanking new and in desperate need of follwers. haha.

It's so true that we should try to write every day. It's amazing how many times inspiration struck three words into a new chapter. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the advice that we must not wait for inspiration, but strive to write everyday. Richard, I am sure your 3 year old grandson must be keeping you on your toes.
